Trick: Use Chrome to check all different browsers memory usage – Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari
The amazing code - about:memory
By typing this about:memory in the address bar of Google Chrome, you’ll be able to see a list of all web browsers you’re currently open and their memory usage. Not only does it tell you how much physical and virtual memory each browser is using, but it also tells you how much memory is shared, how much memory is dedicated to their own use.
The Processes section shows you the details of memory usage for each of Chrome’s tab processes. It’s especially convenient when you want to do a check on which website is eating most of your memory. Some facebook games do eat a lot of your memory. It is advisable that you close all tabs that are using plenty of your memory when you’re away or running other applications. It reduces energy consumption and will eventually saves your money.

What is “Private” and “Shared”?
Private:
Resident memory size that is not shared with any other process.
This is the best indicator of browser memory resource usage.
Shared:
Resident memory size that is currently shared with 2 or more processes.
Note: For browsers using multiple processes, if we simply added the shared memory
of each individual process, this value would be inflated. Therefore, this value
is computed as an approximate value for shared memory in each of the browser’s
processes. Note also that shared memory varies depending on what other processes
are running on the system, and may be difficult to measure reproducibly.
It’s not perfect
The only downside about use this method to check the memory usage is that the information you are getting is not real time update. You’ll have to refresh the page to get an updated info.
