Rumor: Microsoft Wants Blu-ray for Xbox 360?
I would prefer you to read about the format war if you wish to know more about blu-ray’s victorious.
So Microsoft wants blu-ray for 360 huh?
According to Stan Glasgow, Sony Electronics US president, “Sony is in talks with console rival Microsoft about offering a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360.”
Recently, Toshiba quit the fight and said it would discontinue development of the HD-DVD. And now, It seems that Sony Electronics US president Stan Glasgow was encouraging Microsoft and Apple to incorporate Blu-ray drives in their products.
My Views:
It definitely will happen, and Microsoft probably wouldn’t mind paying Sony some money for integrating blu-ray in its console, at least in the minds of consumers, take a bit away from what is Sony’s biggest competitive advantage with PlayStation 3.
Maybe Microsoft wants to make the Xbox into a direct competitor of the PlayStation 3 when it comes to multimedia. Microsoft has yet to comment on a date for such a development. But it seems Microsoft will wait for Blu-ray player prices to sink.
Analysts project that Blu-ray production licenses will soon reach the Chinese manufacturers and this move could take the price of the Blu-ray under the threshold of 300 dollars.

Toshiba retreated finally. And guess what, blu-ray is still the winner! We should get one too, shall we?
