Fix: File Transfer Warning – MSN or Windows Live Messenger 2011
Error Messange: You have chosen to transfer a file which may be unsafe.
You must enable virus scanning software to transfer this file.
Microsoft offers a free virus scanner for Messenger. Click Install to download and install the scanner now.
Symtoms: File failed to transfer due to absent of proper antivirus program.

File Transfer Warning – Solution 2:
By default, Messenger doesn’t allow you to send files with an extension of exe;.bat;.com;.cmd;.reg;.vbs;.inf;.msi;.htm;.htm which are highly vunerable to viruses. If you want to send any of these file types, zip it using WinRar before sending.
There are specific ports needed to be opened for file transfer in MSN or Windows Live Messenger: You must open ports 6891 to 6900.
File Transfer Warning – Solution 3:
Simply click the Install button appear in the above error message to install free virus scanner for Messenger provided by Microsoft. The installation will begin shortly and you should be able to send your file after installing the free virus scanner.
File Transfer Warning – Solution 4:
Not recommended but it works. If you have any of the restricted file types, rename the file to .txt instead of those that are disallowed. Send it over and ask your friend to rename back to its original extension. Note: Please do a backup for the original file as in some rare cases, renaming the extension of a file might destroy the file.
